Inclusion Creates Benefits
Promoting diversity and inclusion in companies has a proven positive impact on employee well-being and business success, as demonstrated by the Center for Disability and Integration at the University of St. Gallen in various companies.
Diversity is beneficial for companies when it is actively managed, leadership promotes an inclusive corporate culture, and the well-being of all employees can thereby be enhanced.
For instance, the individual health of all employees improves. Additionally, inclusive teams are more creative in problem-solving. This provides a company with economic advantages.
The well-being of the workforce is more important today than ever before. The escalating shortage of skilled workers sets new standards for leadership. Moreover, inclusive companies harness the innovative strength of diverse groups and, by advancing inclusion, attract a wider clientele.

Legal Requirements
Until now, the commitment to greater inclusion has been voluntary. Switzerland deliberately refrained from imposing requirements or quotas. This will change in the near future. Some regulations are already very specific. On the one hand, companies will be affected by the tightened guidelines for sustainability reporting (CSRD: Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), and on the other hand, the Federal Council has commissioned the strengthening of the BehiG (Disability Equality Act) to increasingly obligate private employers.
The CSRD will be introduced in phases starting early 2024. The CSRD also affects Swiss companies that generate a net turnover of more than 150 million Euros in the EU and have at least one subsidiary or branch office in the EU. The disclosure obligation will also be extended to smaller companies in the coming years. Another reason why an investment in diversity and inclusion is worthwhile: it will simply ensure you meet future minimum required standards!
