How can we achieve workplace inclusion in the open labor market—including for people receiving disability benefits?

This question will be the focus of the two-day professional seminar “Work Inclusion in Practice,” to be held on May 5–6, 2026, at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Social Work.

Many people receiving disability benefits aim to secure employment in the open labor market. However, the path to achieving this raises key questions: What conditions are necessary for sustainable integration? How can employers be encouraged to create inclusive workplaces and receive expert support? How does earned income affect disability benefits and supplemental benefits? And what role does job coaching play in the overall integration process?

The seminar addresses these topics throughout the various stages of supported employment—from assessing the individual’s situation, to job search and approaching employers, to long-term support in the workplace.

In addition to expert input, the program focuses on practical application. Participants work with case studies, reflect on typical challenges in the placement process, and gain Job Coach , firsthand insights through discussions with an employee receiving disability benefits, their employer, and a Job Coach .

The seminar will be led by Selina Süsstrunk and Juliana Schneider, consultants specializing in workplace inclusion. Practical insights from the Profil Arbeit & Inklusion Foundation will be systematically incorporated into the seminar.

The seminar is open to anyone interested; there are no admission requirements.
