Peer Counselor (20–30%) with a mental health condition or personal experience with mental illness (m/f/d)

Profil – Arbeit & Handicap is a Pro Infirmis foundation that promotes the sustainable vocational integration of people with health limitations or disabilities into the open labor market. The foundation operates throughout German-speaking Switzerland.

As part of a pilot project, we are testing a peer counseling program in the area of workplace integration through the end of 2027. To expand our peer team, we are seeking a peer counselor with a mental health disability or personal experience with mental illness for a fixed-term position, with the option of extension.

What you can expect:

  • They support people with disabilities or health impairments—or those who have experienced illness—in their process of (re)entering the workforce, thereby promoting the participation of people with disabilities in the workforce.
  • You will help further develop the peer support program at Profil and help define the services and processes.
  • They work to raise awareness among employers.
  • They help Profil’s team of specialists adopt a recovery-oriented approach and better understand the perspectives of those affected.

Your profile:

  • You have completed vocational training or a college degree, have completed peer training, and, ideally, have already gained experience as a peer.
  • They have gone through a vocational rehabilitation process themselves.
  • You enjoy working independently, are meticulous and organized, and have a good sense of humor.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills when interacting with people with health limitations in often complex situations, and you enjoy working with people of all ages. Your ability to reflect helps you in your interactions with our candidates and in your collaboration with our staff.
  • You are flexible and can handle uncertainties and take a pragmatic approach during the pilot project.
  • You feel comfortable working in a decentralized organization and at various locations (online consultations are also possible).
